If you’re visiting Idlewild or even if you’ve been coming here for years, I highly recommend taking a tour with Historical Idlewild Tours and Services (HITS)! The tour guide and owner, Cila Cochran, was absolutely amazing. Her passion for preserving Idlewild’s rich African American history shines through in every stop along the tour.
What impressed me most was that she didn’t just share the well-known history. She took us to hidden gems and pointed out places and stories that many of us had never heard before. I thought I knew Idlewild pretty well, but Cila showed us so much that I didn’t even know existed. Her knowledge, storytelling, and genuine love for the community made the experience both educational and inspiring.
This wasn’t just a tour, it was an opportunity to connect with the legacy, culture, and spirit of Historic Idlewild in a meaningful way. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong supporter of Idlewild, you’ll walk away with a deeper appreciation for this incredible place.
