Unfortunately, our private boat tour on Lake Como on Friday morning, August 7, 2026, was a very disappointing experience, especially considering the price we paid.
We booked a 4-hour private boat experience from Bellagio for our group of 7 — my wife and I, our three children, and another couple traveling with us. We paid approximately €1,390 / $1,600 for what was presented to us as a premium private Lake Como experience aboard a “Luxury Venetian Limousine.”
Unfortunately, the overall experience did not come close to meeting our expectations.
First, we completely understand that weather conditions are outside of anyone’s control. The weather that morning was not ideal, and because of this, the original itinerary could not be followed as planned. We have absolutely no issue with a company prioritizing safety or adjusting an itinerary because of weather.
Our disappointment was with HOW the situation was handled.
There seemed to be a serious lack of communication and coordination between the company and the captain. When it became clear that the planned itinerary could not be completed, we were not presented with meaningful alternative options. For example, nobody offered us the possibility of postponing the tour until later in the afternoon if conditions were expected to improve, changing the route to provide a better experience, or presenting other reasonable alternatives.
When guests are paying this amount for a private 4-hour experience, we believe proactive communication and problem-solving should be part of the service.
We were also particularly disappointed with the onboard arrangements. Prior to the tour, we had specifically requested a food platter for our children, champagne/Prosecco for the adults, and made sure to ask that both sparkling and regular water would be available for our group.
Unfortunately, none of this was provided.
Even the complimentary Prosecco that was listed as an inclusion in our booking confirmation was not provided.
These may sound like small details individually, but when combined with the poor communication, the itinerary issues and the overall experience, they made a significant difference — particularly when traveling with three children and paying a premium price for a private tour.
The boat itself was also just “so-so” in our opinion and did not feel like the level of luxury experience we expected based on the price and description.
Again, we completely understand that no boat company or captain can control the weather. Our criticism is NOT about the weather. It is about the lack of preparation, communication, alternatives and attention to the services and amenities that had been discussed and/or included in our reservation.
For approximately €1,390 / $1,600 for four hours, we expected a much higher level of professionalism, organization, communication and customer care.
Lake Como and the Bellagio area are absolutely beautiful, and there are many boat tour operators available. Based solely on our personal experience, unfortunately I cannot recommend this company. I would strongly suggest travelers research and compare alternative operators before booking to make sure the service, boat and overall experience meet or exceed their expectations.
Very unfortunate and disappointing experience for our family and friends.

让我们感到失望的是情况处理的方式。
显然，公司与船长之间严重缺乏沟通与协调。当显然原定行程无法顺利完成时，我们并未得到任何切实可行的替代方案。例如，没有人向我们提出这样的可能性：如果天气有望好转，便将游览时间推迟到下午；或者调整路线以提供更好的体验；亦或是提供其他合理的替代选择。
当游客愿意花费如此高额的费用来享受为期4小时的私人定制体验时……我们认为，主动沟通及及时解决问题应是服务的一部分。
我们对船上的安排也感到非常失望。在行程开始前，我们特别要求为孩子们准备一份食物拼盘，为成年人准备香槟或普罗塞克酒，同时还特意叮嘱要确保为整个团队提供气泡水和普通饮用水。
遗憾的是，这些要求都未被满足。就连预订确认单上注明会免费提供的普罗塞克葡萄酒也根本没有提供。
