Disappointing Golden Arrow Journey

点评：Arrived at the station at 0655 Trowbridge, welcomed by friendly staff shown to our seats.
Started our journey to Canterbury, first part of the journey pulled by diesel train on to London, where the diesel was swapped for steam engine, we should have had a 25 minute pit stop to stretch our legs and admire the locomotive, this got cancelled due to delays on route, tea and coffee served through the morning, 1130 our cups were cleared and staff disappeared, we had to ask 3 times for drinks, as we had another 3hrs to go, we finally arrived at Canterbury 1430 (unable to see the locomotive due to the platform being to short).
Given 1½hrs to explore the beautiful city ( well a fleeting glance) then back on the train for our journey back home, finally allowed a 15 minute stop to admire the locomotive, if you could get near it, small platform with 250+ people all trying to get a photo.
Then back on the train to home arriving at 2315, 17hrs journey 1¾hr time off train, and no chance to admire the magnificent locomotive, that we booked to see.
At nearly £500 for 2 people this trip certainly didn't meet expectations, the nostalgic feel of a steam journey was missed by far
