Manu and Fiona put together an excellent custom 12-day itinerary for us, focusing on hiking and swimming. Most of the days were self-guided, a couple were with a guide. Accommodations and transfers were included. We were very pleased with our experience. We walked along the coast, through gorges, and in the mountains. We swam in perfectly clear water along scenic beaches. We enjoyed both nature and historic sites. The accommodations in family-run hotels were very comfortable.
What really made this trip so wonderful and successful were Manu, Fiona, and their team.
1. They delivered exactly what we asked: varied hiking on the coast and in the mountains, and opportunities to swim along the way.
2. On the guided hikes, our guide, Miltos, was absolutely amazing. Miltos was a walking flora and fauna expert, and he not only identified plants, but he also knew their traditional uses. He also provided historical and cultural background of Crete while we walked. Having had the opportunity to hike with Miltos added immensely to our overall enjoyment of Crete because we could readily identify birds and plants on later hikes.
3. The accommodations exceeded expectations. All of the hotels were quaint, clean, spacious, and very welcoming.
4. Manu and Fiona provided excellent support while we were traveling on our own. When we reached out they responded within minutes and were able to resolve minor logistical issues we encountered.
We highly recommend Fit in Crete to anyone looking for an active trip on the beautiful island of Crete.
