点评:This is described as the oldest surviving house in Inverness and is a very attractive white harled building with crow step gables and a projecting turnpike stair.
It had been closed when I visited Inverness in February, so had been on my 'to do' list for a future visit. Today was that day!
What I hadn’t realised was that only the ground floor is open. One room was the reception area with a small shop. It was busy and staff didn’t have time to talk. The other room had information displays about the house and the history of Inverness. The main thing of note was the C17th marriage stone above the fireplace.
The visit was a lot quicker than expected! Abertarff House is free to enter, has an interesting history and worth a quick look if passing.
NOTE: The tea room referred to in older posts is no longer there...
