Panna National Park – India’s Greatest Tiger Comeback Story

点评：Panna National Park is one of the most beautiful tiger reserves in India and one of the greatest wildlife success stories. In 2007, Panna had lost all its tigers. To rebuild the population, T1 tigress from Kanha, T2 tigress from Bandhavgarh and T3 tiger from Pench were brought here. Today, their descendants are thriving, and Panna is now home to around 88 tigers.
Our safari started from Mandli Gate and within a short time we were lucky to spot two litters of P-151 tigress. Watching her young female cubs moving through the forest was a perfect start to the day. Later at Pipartola grassland, we found a sub-adult daughter of P-141 near her sambar kill before she walked down to the Ken River for water.
We then visited the spectacular Vulture Point overlooking the deep gorges of the Ken Valley. During the monsoon and post-monsoon season, this landscape becomes even more beautiful with lush green forests and several waterfalls flowing through the rocky cliffs. The upper plateau was equally impressive with its rugged hills and rocky tracks, known as the territory of Kanhaiya tiger.
As we headed back towards Mandli Gate after breakfast near Hinauti, the jungle gave us one last surprise. The young cubs of P-652 were playing and resting peacefully under a large Arjuna tree.
Seeing cubs, sub-adults and breeding tigresses all in one day was a reminder of how far Panna has come. Just one hour from Khajuraho Airport, with excellent safari zones and beautiful scenery, Panna is a destination every wildlife lover should experience at least once.
