The Killing field and Toul Sleng genocide museum S21 Tour的点评
点评：Also known as S-21 the museum is one of Cambodias most importang historical sites. Formerly a high school it was transformed into a prison during the Khmer Rouge regime. Today it swrves as a poweful memorial and museum showing the stories of the victims and documenting the countrys tragic past. Definitely a must visit offering a sobbering but meaninful insight into Cambodias history honouring those who suffered and helping show visitors the resiliance of the Cambodian people.
We next visited the Killing Fields which offers a deep and moving insight intobone of the darkest chapters of Cambodian history. The guider tour peovides important historical context about the Khner Rouge regine and honours the memory of the victims through preserved sites memorials and audio story telling which we ded not need as our guide was a victim of the genocide when he was put to work in rhe camps and later he was raised in an orphanage as he has lost both parents and two siblings to the genocide. It is a meaninful experience that encourages reflection understanding and respect.
Felt a bit disrespectful taking photos but did limit my self to one or two the first of the four children rescued when the camp was liberated two of which were brothers and were there at the genocide museum to meet visitors and promote their life story memoir. Secondly the tree where the camp guards would kill babies by smashing their heads against the tree. A terifying and barbaric act
It is a very sad experience and like Aushwitz well worth experiencing.
