点评：Another fascinating trip by OAT, this time to the Balkan states. It was a lovely educational experience for me to visit these warn torn countries. I was most impressed to see the resiliency of the people and how they have recovered and rebuilt to become beautiful countries once again. The ancient castles, and old towns were fascinating to visit. The food and hotels provided by OAT were top notch. Our tour guide Lili and all the local guides were warm, friendly and most informative, especially when they shared their personal experiences. I took the pre-trip to Albania and I am so very
glad I did. Albania was one of the highlights for me. Our tour guide, Marsid was simply wonderful. Learning of the harsh oppression during the communist rule in Albania was enlightening, it was emotional to hear all the personal experiences and testimonies. Mr Zenel Drangu spoke of his 40+ year imprisonment at the notorious isolated and harsh Spac Prison in the remote mountainous area of northern Albania. His personal account brought me to tears. At the Spac Labor Camp, he endured long brutal hours of forced labor where many did not survive. His crime for which he was imprisoned? He simply tried to escape Albania for a better life. I did not take the post trip to Istria so can not comment on that. All I can say is, well done OAT and thank you for another wonderful experience.
