点评:Horrible experience watching the elephants clearly distressed swaying side to side repeatedly which is a visible sign of trauma. They showed a lot of distress, the smaller elephant made uncomfortable sounds twice as the mahout hurt his ear. You can see the pain in their eyes, they are not dancing out of enjoyment, it is a sign of physical and psychological abuse and elephants sway as a way of soothing themselves from this.
I found it incredibly distressing, it’s clear these elephants have been through psychological trauma to be conditioned to pose for photos and only have a metre to move. They also picked their feet up from the floor which again is signs of physical abuse as their feet aren’t made to stand on the hard floor for hours. They are over exposed, surrounded by humans and loud music from nearby restaurants in the evenings which causes further distress.
After reading about the way elephants are broken in and removed from their mother’s and put in the crush (small wooden frame) from an early age and beaten until they perform for humans, I find it utterly heartbreaking. These elephants should be free, they are not entertainment. You can see physical signs of abuse as there are changes in colour on top of their forehead, this is where they have been physically hurt causing markings and change in colour.
They deserve a better life and I felt so sad that I was powerless to help them. Please do not visit.
