点评:We visited the Arsenal in Rochefort expecting to discover the history of ship building in the area, as the town was renowned for the ships built from the 18th century onwards. Information outside the entrance is sadly lacking in English so we asked a member of staff what to expect before we paid our €12 each. We were told there was lots of information in English, so in we went.
The first part of the exhibition relates to a replica sailing ship, the Hermioni, that was built in the 21st century. Some of the information panels were in French and English, but not all.
From there the second part of the exhibition tells the story of shipbuilding by way of large wall panels, solely in French. There are few exhibits to look at, mainly large photos.
The final part of the exhibition is a rusty ship tied up in a dock with no clues as to it's history.
All in all, a waste of money if you can't read French, and even if you could, it would still be dull.
