点评:My experience of pottery to date, was only what I’d seen on the ‘Generation game’ as a kid - pots collapsing, clay flying all over the place, wheels spinning at 70 miles an hour, and contestants faces covered in clay slip! So it was with some trepidation that I attended a pottery workshop….
I needn’t have worried - the tutor was amazing! We were in a group of 6, and he got us all kitted out with aprons, sat us down and explained how the session would go. He then showed us all the techniques needed to make a pot, from making the basic shape, to decoration. Then he let us loose! The secret to avoiding disaster, is not to have the wheel spinning too fast, so we were able to control the clay. He went from person to person, advising us how to make the pot taller, or wider, or change the shape of it - and we had a totally brilliant 2 hours and each made 2 pretty presentable pots. It’s soooo relaxing (the wheel is almost hypnotic!) and a great way to spend a grey and rainy afternoon - can’t wait to go back and paint my masterpieces!!!!
