点评:This artificial lake, built in the 1990s — despite the predictable NIMBY complaints — with the multiple purposes of controlling the Arno basin's floods, replenishing the underlying rivers in times of drought, and providing drinking water (one million people in and around Florence benefit from it), has ultimately also had positive effects on the attractiveness of the Upper Mugello, both in terms of landscape and recreation.
I've known the area since the dam was built; but in April 2026, I had the opportunity to walk along part of the lake's shores for the first time. Specifically, I followed the pedestrian path that from the center of Barberino di Mugello heads along the left bank of the Stura stream, runs alongside it until the stream flows into the lake, then follows the shore of the lake itself, to the point that juts out into the basin. Opposite, on the front shore, is the "Bahia" beach resort (which I later visited in the afternoon).
It's a pleasant walk, especially in spring, when the flowers are in full bloom and you can walk for long stretches on a beautiful lawn.
At the end of the path, you stay roughly in the center of the lake. If you look closely, you can also see the dam, with its water intake structures and the observation cabin.
Overall, it's a scenic, pleasant walk.
