The Raptors的点评
点评：We highly recommend planning to get here during a flying demonstration. In the summer when we visited they hosted three flying demonstrations each day and they are a truly awesome experience. The Raptors raises some birds in captivity and uses them for education and work (i.e. keeping unwanted birds off of runways).
The Raptors is also a sanctuary for exotic birds that used to be pets but can no longer go to other owners. They also provide sanctuary to injured wild birds that cannot be released back into the wild. When we visited they had bird talks about the parrots and grip strength.
The staff here are very passionate about what they do. This was clear with each staff member we interacted with and especially clear with the flying demonstration presenters. During the demonstration we got to see an eagle, vulture, owl and falcon. Each one was a highlight in its own way and you get very close to the birds so when they warn you to duck take it seriously - my wife got hit three times by Goblin the vulture!
The ticket cost was $28 and was absolutely worth it. We think if you're a bird lover or looking for something unique to do this is absolutely it. On site they have a gift shop that has some unique raptors items and some artwork made by their raven. They also sell some refreshments on site and they have a farm stand with eggs and other products. We stopped here while driving between Nanaimo and Victoria and there were lots of fun and interesting stops along the way but this is definitely the most memorable stop of the day.
