点评：We decided on our 8-day Sri Lanka tour completely last minute, and booking with Shamal at Exotic Island Tours turned out to be the best decision of the whole trip.
The planning stage was quick and painless. Shamal replied fast to every message and built an itinerary around exactly what we told him we wanted with no cost. When we asked to add extra places, he worked them in without any fuss and without asking for any upfront payment. He also pointed out which stops deserved more time than we’d assumed, which saved us from cramming too much into each day.
He helped with accommodation as well, suggesting options at each stop and offering to book them for us. We looked over the ones we chose before confirming, and not one disappointed, good locations and exactly as described.
Before we even arrived, he explained what to expect at each site and was clear about which entry fees we’d be paying ourselves. That made budgeting simple. We knew the full cost before we flew, and nothing unexpected cropped up along the way.
Shamal greeted us at the airport with the warmest smile and brilliant energy, and that never dipped once across eight full days. We covered every stop on the itinerary plus the extras we’d added, and never found ourselves waiting around anywhere. His timing was spot on all week, he knew when to arrive to beat the crowds and how long each drive would really take, so the days never felt rushed or padded out.
He knows the country inside out. At each site he shared the history and context rather than just the basics, and answered every question we threw at him. At some attractions he also arranged specialist local guides at no extra cost to go into even more detail - they were excellent too, and clearly people he’d worked with for years.
Throughout, he was punctual, flexible and genuinely easy company for eight days straight. He kept water and snacks in the vehicle and was always offering more, and was happy to adjust the plan whenever we wanted to linger somewhere or stop off along the way. His birthday actually fell during our trip, we only worked it out from people greeting him at the sights, yet he changed nothing about our itinerary and didn’t take a single minute away from the tour. That says a lot about how professional he is.
The whole trip ran seamlessly, and we got far more out of it than we ever could have on our own. We came home with an incredible experience and a friend in Sri Lanka.
