A unique and wonderful experience

点评：We booked for two nights, and it is important to understand that this is not the Queen Mary. It is a traditional houseboat cruising slowly along the backwaters. On our first night we moored in the middle of the lake, not far from the naval academy, after stopping earlier at a nearby beach. It was wonderfully peaceful and serene during the evening.
With that in mind, the boat was very comfortable. The bathroom and some of the furnishings and rugs are perhaps a little tired, but everything was fully functional and we always had plenty of hot water when needed.
The crew were excellent and could not have done more for us. We were particularly fortunate the day after our first night when we disembarked and were taken to see a Theyyam performance. We had intended to stay for about half an hour but ended up remaining for nearly three hours. It was absolutely fascinating to watch, and the crew stayed with us throughout. Afterwards we returned to the boat and continued cruising along the backwaters.
The food was good. My wife and I are not especially keen on very local cuisine, but the crew did their best to accommodate our preferences and we ate very well. Breakfast was excellent, with eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast prepared just as we like them, along with fresh fruit. We really could not have asked for more.
Overall it was a wonderful experience. Our bedroom was air conditioned at night and there was usually a lovely breeze across the water which kept things pleasantly cool.
In my view one night would not be enough, but more than two nights might be a little too long. Two nights felt just right. I would highly recommend the experience, and once again many thanks to a wonderful crew.
