Nowhere near as good as it used to be and bad vibes from the band

点评：Pre-pandemic Electric Island used be be the go-to venue on Lanzarote for live music - see the pictures from 2019. The former owners and house band really knew how to get the crowd going and bring the good vibes. Unfortunately the new house band are arrogant and limited. They frequently ask for requests, only to laugh at them and throw them away - not because they don't know or can't play the songs (I know what they can play because it's the same repertoire over and over again, night after night - I've literally heard them play the songs that they thrown in the bin and sneer at) but because apparently they think the audience suggestions are bad or embarrassing? Seems like a weird flex. If you don't want requests - don't ask for them. Just play what you want to play. They constantly mumble little in-jokes between themselves on stage, entertaining themselves for way too long between songs. As someone brought up on live music from a very young age I've experienced lots of excellent bands willing and able to play requests, and who are good at crowd interaction and banter, that adds to the fun mood of the night. These guys absolutely do not have that. Electric Island gets nowhere near as busy as it used to and I'm afraid to say, 3 years post-lockdowns, it's not because the island isn't as busy, it's because the vibes in this place are just... off. Personally after years of being a frequent Island punter, several times a year, I won't ever be going back whilst it's under this current ownership.
