Outstanding night dive at Black Rock - joined by Hawaiian Monk Seals!

点评：We had an exceptional experience with Black Rock Scuba, led by divemaster Chris Doerr.
This was my daughter’s first night dive and my second. Chris set the tone immediately with a clear, thorough pre-dive briefing. He walked through what we might see, including his own prior (very rare) encounter with monk seals. That context mattered more than we realized at the time.
During the dive, we had an extended encounter with two Hawaiian Monk Seals.
Chris remained calm and professional throughout. He kept us on the planned route, did not alter the dive to chase or crowd the animals, and allowed the interaction to happen naturally. The seals chose to stay with us for an hour, even using our dive lights to hunt along the rock wall!
That approach made the experience both safe and respectful, while still allowing us to fully appreciate what was happening.
The dive itself was excellent beyond the encounter, well-paced, well-managed, and appropriate for a first night dive. My daughter had a great introduction to night diving, and it turned into an experience we are unlikely to ever repeat.
Logistics were also smooth. Booking was straightforward, and the equipment was in excellent condition and ready to go.
If you are diving Black Rock, this is a strong operator with experienced leadership.
