点评:Pros: Clean, spacious, air conditioned.
Cons: One of the most inefficient, convoluted booking processes possible for simply transferring between Narita airport and Tokyo. It requires pre reserving a specific seat on a specific train, a mixture of online (which would not work for us), office / terminal machines, reserving round trip seats two weeks in advance, etc. No idea why Japan still insist on making many trains like this ‘reserved seating’ only, but it really over-complicates what should and could be a very straightforward efficient means of travel. Why can one not just pay for a ticket or swipe-in using something like their excellent suica card, then wait on the platform for the next available train as one can everywhere else in Tokyo city?
Also, be warned… it may be the ‘express’ but it still takes nearly 1.5 hours to get from Tokyo Shinjuku station to Narita “Tokyo” terminal 1 (nowhere near Tokyo) or vice versa. It’s clearly far cheaper than driving / taxi, but no quicker.
