TLDR: I SELECTED 2hrs on the Ring-go App AND PAID £2.10 which is not the amount shown on the board. Ah well it was okay for a while, we'll not be back for the Farmers markets.
What was once a genuinely enjoyable day out at Loch Lomond Shores has been completely soured by the introduction of paid parking. I've visited many times over the years and always appreciated the free parking as part of the overall experience — it made the outlet feel welcoming and family-friendly. That goodwill has now been thrown out of the window.
The car park is now managed by WiseParking and you're expected to pay via the RingGo app, coins, or card. NOTE: there are limited machines for paying by cash. Card or APP or best options.
Charges run from £0.50 for up to 30 minutes, £1.50 for 2 hours, £2.00 for 4 hours, and £4.00 for the rest of the day. While the individual amounts may seem modest, the principle is deeply frustrating. You're already being asked to spend money in the shops, restaurants, and attractions — and now you're being charged just for the privilege of arriving. I SELECTED 2hrs on the APP AND PAID £2.10
To make matters worse, the site is plastered with aggressive warning signs — "Have YOU paid to park?" — dotted around every entrance, making the whole experience feel more like a surveillance zone than a leisure destination. ANPR cameras monitor entry and exit, and failure to pay results in a £100 fine.
There are far more welcoming places to spend your money nearby. The shops have already gone down hill. I won't be rushing back.
