点评:Thursday 17th July we were booked on a Tour of the Bay of Olbia, which is home to the Islands of Molara and Tavolara.
The Islands are located on the northeastern coast of Sardinia in the Tyrrhenian Sea and form part of a protected Marine Park.
It is possible to visit this private island, which is an unspoilt Nature Reserve, as part of a guided tour and boat excursions. This was not included in our itinerary, however, we did sail around the Island. The Captain manoeuvred the ship, as close as possible, to one side of the island so we could see the incredible rock formations, reviewed separately.
As we sailed around we also saw the ruins of Castello di Molara sitting on top of a cliff. There were glimpses of odd wild goat scampering across the cliffs.
The rocks on Molara are red due to the presence of iron oxide, commonly known as rust. They are in stark contrast to the white limestone cliffs of it's neighbour Tovolara.
