点评:Andean Plateau road tour
Our Andean Plateau road tour covers a wide spectrum of highlights that this landlocked country has to offer, spanning from its tradition, history, culture, wilderness, and unique landscapes and features. While the Salt Flats are well know and indeed are a gem of the trip, we also gain insights from many other stops and short walks, e.g. the train cemetery, dinosaur footprints park, historical landmarks in Potosi, Sajama National Park, and more.
Bolivian Routes made extra-mile effort to arrange, adjust and deliver the itinerary. Our enjoyment and satisfaction were further enhanced as our guide took drone footages for us, e.g. when we walked across the (out of use) Sucre Suspension Bridge on the way from Sucre to Potosi.
When the road tour is complemented by a short add-on trekking package like Wara Warani base camp trek, the overall Bolivia trip becomes even better.
Wara Warani base camp trek
We first saw Wara Warani during our 2019 “Traverse of Bolivia's Cordillera Real” trek and were impressed by its pyramid-like peak. So we decided to add this short trekking trip after our Andean Plateau road tour, where the acclimatization of the latter helped the former. Two things stand out in this base camp trek. First, Wara Waran lake, at ~5,000m and fed by Wara Waran glaciers, has two-color tones which are unique: an inner lake of Caribbean turquoise and an outer lake of ultramarine blue. Second, the return from the base camp (via a different route) goes over two 5,000m+ passes in a single day, a challenge but also a unique experience.
We booked this trekking trip with Bolivian Routes because got to know our guide in our 2019 trip and his company delivers bang-for-the-buck results.
