I thanked him and let him know I had found another option. After that, he sent three more messages. I didn’t reply at first because I felt I had already closed the conversation, but I eventually confirmed again.
His reply was that he was really disappointed and annoyed, that I had wasted his time and not been fair, and that I should not do this in the future because it was not very nice.
This all took place within about two days while I was comparing options like anyone would. After I had already said thank you and moved on, the extra messages felt unnecessary and a bit pushy. The final message accusing me of wasting his time didn’t feel professional, especially since there was never any commitment.
