点评:We were really excited to visit Ripley’s however the experience was subpar. A significant amount of maintenance is required throughout the odditorium:
*The neck ring display that is designed for visitors to “attempt” to lift up pulled right out of wooden box as it clearly was missing the bolt securing it.
*The space room astronaut gloves are ripped in multiple places and the dials on the machine on the right didn’t work at all.
*The rock collector was out of service.
*There were quite a few displays without labels/info explaining what they were.
*Some displays were in shadow boxes so low on the wall that it was impractical to look at them.
*The strange sloped room that is supposed to be an illusion of being taller or shorter seems to be missing a mirror or something because there’s an open window space that you can just step through to get to the previous room that doesn’t seem to make sense. (The sloped room seemed very underwhelming anyway.)
*The wolf man mannequin is positioned sitting on the floor with his head down so you can’t even see his hairy face.
*The kids crawl-through tunnel is missing the padding on the right hand side of the exit.
*The interactive display with the hovering balls only had 2 of the blowers working, the one at the back wasn’t operational.
*The final exhibit was supposed to be some sort of motion capture light display however only 2 cameras picked up our movements out of the 7 or so cameras/projectors in the room.
The gift shop was also a disappointment without much variety. I like to collect souvenir fridge magnets but the only magnets available had an image of the lame “tallest man” mannequin, which wasn’t even a decent display as it looked unrealistic. I would have preferred a magnet of the actual shop front with the colourful octopus and gorilla hand, despite the fact that they weren’t featured anywhere else in museum.
We enjoyed the spinning tunnel though and went back and forth several times with our eyes both open and closed. The tunnel and the conjoined animal displays were the highlight of the visit. It’s ok to visit but isn’t worth the current admission price.
