点评:If you are visiting Ishigaki Island with family, Ishigaki Yaima Village is an absolute must-visit destination!
There is a paid entrance fee required for both adults and children upon entry, but every penny spent is well worth the unique experiences waiting inside.
We were blessed with clear, bright blue skies on a sunny day, which made the traditional Okinawan architecture, lush greenery, and vibrant surroundings pop, perfect for taking family photos!
Our first stop was the Monkey Garden, which quickly became the absolute favorite part of the trip for my kids! The adorable squirrel monkeys are completely comfortable around humans. They get right up close to you, and some will even let you pet them gently. It was entertaining to observe their various behaviors:
Groups of energetic monkeys playful wrestling and chasing each other.
Some perched peacefully on tree branches enjoying a quiet snack.
Others lounging lazily across the ground and park benches.
A few extremely curious ones standing near visitors, intently watching us as if we were the main attraction!
After running around with the monkeys on a hot sunny day, we stopped by Gotto Cafe to grab some colorful and refreshing kakigori (Japanese shaved ice). We took our icy treats over to the shaded Kisyaba Residence, where we relaxed in the cool breeze while admiring the traditional red-tiled roof architecture.
Beyond the monkeys, we took a stroll around the park to see the water buffalo and the impressive crested serpent eagle, adding a great touch of local nature and culture to our walk.
Before heading out, we took a brief, serene walk along the mangrove boardwalk path surrounded by tropical foliage. To wrap up our trip, we stopped by the souvenir shop near the entrance where the kids joined a hands-on craft workshop. They had a blast painting and coloring their very own pair of shisa lion statues to take home as a memorable keepsake.
Ishigaki Yaima Village offers a fantastic blend of Okinawan culture, interactive animal encounters, serene nature, and kid-friendly activities. Highly recommended for families visiting Ishigaki!
