点评:We found the 'Ashburton Antiques Trail' a bit of a wasted journey. Firstly we had a very bad experience with a local who refused to back up his van after nearly hitting us when he raced around a corner into a very narrow street. Even another local person on foot seemed to take the view that we and everyone behind us should back up, which we and everyone else did in the end after about 10 minutes. This does not paint the town as a friendly place to visit.
We were told that there was plenty of road side parking, there was not. We had to park in a car park and pay despite the fact that I am disabled and had a Blue Badge. The pavements are quite narrow, and seemed to have high kerbs, and crossing places were few and far between, which is very difficult for some one on a mobility scooter, which is not disabled friendly.
We found that most of the shops were shut. Many of them didn't even look as if they were still trading. We only found one Antiques Shop that was open and looked like it was interesting, so we went in and had a look around. This was the only descent antiques shop we found, some others were open but they had hardly anything in them to look at.
We finished our trip in a little tea room with scones and coffee, then left without spending anything on antiques and collectables as we had planned. A very disappointing trip.
