Cool glacier, not so cool tour

点评：We did the half day glacier hike. It was very cool to hike on the glacier, but some aspects of the tour we did not enjoy.
The good things:
-We took the shuttle to and from McCarthy and the transportation was very clear and easy.
-Staff at the office were very helpful and our guide helped us adjust and fit the crampons
-We bought the snack pack and it had excellent snacks
-The trail to the glacier is mostly level and very pleasant (the last section gets pretty steep though)
-We spent about 2 hours walking around the glacier, it's very beautiful. We got great views of the icefall and found a number of moraines and crevasses. The crampons do their job and while it's difficult to walk I didn't ever feel like I was slipping.
The not so good:
-My husband and I are casual hikers, we've done our share of hikes but we tend to go slow. We let the guide know this and he said it wouldn't be a problem. Almost immediately when we got on the trail we got left behind. If there was an interpretive talk we did not hear it. The group would stop to wait for us but not very often.
-Part of the glacier safety talk is to stay within eyesight and 100 feet of the guide. At one point rest of the group went up and over a ridge without waiting and the two of us were alone on the glacier with no one in eyesight.
-I assumed that since the company sells a snack pack that there would be a snack break. The half day is mid-morning to mid-afternoon, so we even packed a lunch. We never stopped for a break so I ended up eating while walking around the glacier trying not to trip.
-Even going slow we made it back to Kennecott an hour early and had to kill time waiting for the shuttle back to McCarthy, so I'm not sure why everything was so rushed.
Overall it was a neat, once in a lifetime experience, but I wouldn't do it again. We felt left out of the rest of the group and at times unsafe.

-我以为公司会提供零食包，所以会有零食休息时间。半天的行程是从上午到下午，所以我们甚至还打包了午餐。我们一直没有停下来休息，所以我只能一边吃东西一边绕着冰川走，尽量不绊倒。
