点评:Called in on impulse having seen the sign on the roundabout and really pleased we did. A beautiful small garden with superb stonework, carved plaques and other features, all exploring themes associated with the tenth century King Hywel Dda. The free (bilingual) leaflet from the adjacent cafe is invaluable for a fuller understanding of the site (indeed, without it you could whizz round in a couple of minutes and totally fail to 'get it'). A peaceful oasis in a back street of this little town. A lot of insights into a wise Welsh ruler who deserves to be much better known.
The cafe and exhibition next door were also most rewarding. The displays were very informative. The coffee and cake were delicious. The building was a beautiful structure based on wooden crucks with attractively engraved glass windows. Plus a lovely little colour guidebook....
Don't expect the National Botanic Garden... but if you are interested in history, the evolution of democracy, and garden design, there is a lot to be gained from a visit here. Plenty of free parking nearby. Carrot cake highly recommended!
