This site is operated by Premier Park Ltd (not the council), and my experience matches many of the complaints already mentioned here.
The payment machines were unreliable and didn’t register properly. I had to attempt payment multiple times before it finally went through. The charge (70p) left my bank account and I have proof of payment.
Despite paying in full, I later received a parking charge notice claiming the session was “not paid in full”, followed by debt collection letters and even contact from solicitors. I provided bank evidence showing the payment left my account, yet they continued to pursue it anyway.
This feels less like parking management and more like aggressive enforcement.
Based on my experience:
• Machines unreliable
• ANPR doesn’t correctly match payments
• Even paying doesn’t protect you
• Extremely stressful and time-consuming to resolve
After researching, I discovered many similar stories and complaints about this location at Torquay Marina, with people being fined despite paying or due to technical errors.
If you value your time and sanity, park elsewhere. There are several council-run alternatives nearby that are much safer and fairer.
Keep all receipts and screenshots if you absolutely must use this car park.
