点评:We paid to go round the hall, very interesting and worthwhile, particularly as they had a history of textiles in Burnley exhibition. They have a random range of museum exhibits including Egyptian, Natural history and war, the gallery of paintings although probably quality was not my taste, very much people and portraits.
The grounds are extensive with lots of walks , boggy in places and good to take a dog.
They have an extensive outdoor seating area at the cafe, which is ideal for anyone with a dog, but on the day I went, it was sunny and quite pleasant, but it seemed everyone with a dog , including large and small and badly behaved dogs, had chosen to eat inside. They have no seats indoors where you can sit away from dogs, which is not good if anyone in your group has a dog allergy. The inside of the cafe reflected them allowing unrestricted dog access, the floor was filthy, there were a few low level tables with sofa seating, and some dog owners had o respect for hygiene allowing their dog to climb up onto the sofa, and nibble from plates on the table. The staff were unconcerned, indeed stroked dogs with bare hands before returning to handing food without washing their hands. The drinks in the cafe were very expensive and we saw numerous people who knew the set up, who went up to the hall a short walk across the courtyard and picked serve yourself drinks cheaply, probably saving £10 for a family of 4. Best to take a picnic and a flask.
