Excellent Egypt Tour but with One Disappointing Charge

点评：My compliments to the services offered by Afro-Asia Tours, who looked after us from the moment we landed in Cairo until our departure a week later. We felt thoroughly pampered — there was always someone available to assist us, from the drivers to the city hosts and the expert Egyptologists assigned to us. The hotels they recommended were of high quality and well located. The entire experience felt like a bespoke private tour, and we never had to join other groups, which made the journey feel very special.
We were initially sceptical about cruising on a Dahabiya rather than one of the larger Nile cruise ships, but the Dahabiya exceeded expectations. It was more intimate, less formal and pleasantly uncrowded, with only 16 passengers on board. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone considering a Nile cruise.
I would have given them a five-star rating except for one disappointing charge made by the company. Although we had not originally requested it, it became clear on our final day that there was time for an unscheduled visit to the pyramids. Naturally this involved extra costs for mileage and the entrance tickets, which we fully expected. However, we were charged an additional $110 for the tour itself even though it did not require additional time from the guide or driver.
My concern is not really about the charge itself, but rather the principle of what felt like an uncalled-for additional charge. Given that we had already booked an eight-day tour through the company, this charge felt unnecessary and somewhat disappointing. It left the impression that, because it was such an important site and difficult to decline, the opportunity was used to add an additional fee rather than simply covering the direct costs involved. This was unfortunate, as it slightly detracted from what was otherwise a very well organised and enjoyable tour.
