Worth the experience but very commercialised

点评：There are approximately 120 floating islands, individually built by the families who inhabit them, you will visit one that the trip organiser has links to.
Built from the locally grown Totora Reeds, this is a surreal expeience when you leave your boat and step onto the island - it moves with the water beneath your feet. We visited Condor Manuel where the family provided an explanation of how they build the islands. There is an overpowering smell of damp reeds here due to the stucture of the islands. After which they try to sell you craft items!
We purchased a colourful embroidery, on the island - however a word of warning - think how you will display such items on your return home. We wanted ours framed but the local framer refused to touch it as he couldn't stretch it without damaging it. So we hung it like a tapestry, between 2 rods, but the sides are wavy, we can live with this but would this be an issue to you?
After we were taken to an island with a "hostel" and a couple fo local shops, all very commercial.
