Volunteer Review: High prices for no real Volunteering
Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary的点评
点评：Naankuse advertises themself as Volunteering Opportunity online, but in my opinion its mostly entertaining young people and taking a lot of money for it.
At the main camp there were more than 40 volunteers, divided into different teams.
A stay here includes 2 group activities (morning & afternoon). There is no real Volunteering, unless you count the activities picking up horse poop, cleaning the baboon enclosures and preparing food for the baboons. The rest of the experiences are the same day visitors pay for, like walking with cheetas or baboons. Other activities like counting the goats or brushing the horses seem just to keep volunteers occupied. There is no real learning about the animals they keep at the Reservat, so judging the ethicality of it is difficult.
Despite paying a lot of money, the food at meal times is very sparse. The tap water is drinkable and you get juice, joghurt, musli/cornflakes and toast for Breakfast. No napkins.
The tents are quite small, with 3 beds in it, but only 1 wardrobe. It gets very cold im the night. The shower and toilet are is open, with only a wall. There was no soap. There is also no fridge, kettle or hairdryer in the room. The way to the tents is not light at night and just sand/stones so its hard to roll your luggage to your tent.
The Lapa is the main area for meals with a small pool, laundry room, bar and coffee shop. There are goats and horses roaming freely on the property.
The Logistics Office for the Transport to and from Naankuse seems quite disorganised.
You get a Uniform consisting of a Shirt and Trousers. You can wear your own trouser but always the Shirt, so you need to keep it clean or buy a second one. They also have gloves available for free.
