点评：I had a very disturbing experience today with Oska and his turtle tour.
I had been quietly observing a sea turtle feeding in the ocean for about 15 minutes, keeping my distance and simply watching it. Then Oska arrived with three tourists.
Instead of teaching his guests how to respectfully observe a wild animal, they started feeding the turtle. Wild sea turtles should not be fed by tourists. Then things became even worse: all three tourists repeatedly touched the turtle from different sides while it was trying to swim away. At one point, they even physically obstructed its movement and briefly held onto it.
The turtle stopped feeding and was clearly trying to get away, but they continued following and touching it.
I confronted Oska about what was happening. His response was essentially that it was not a problem because the turtles are "friendly", and that in the past people used to kill them.
This attitude is completely unacceptable for someone making money from wildlife tourism. The fact that turtles are accustomed to humans does not mean that tourists should feed, touch, restrain or harass them.
A responsible turtle guide should educate visitors: keep a respectful distance, do not feed, do not touch, do not block the animal's path, and let the turtle decide where it wants to go.
Sri Lanka's sea turtles are part of the country's natural heritage. Tourism should help protect them, not turn wild animals into attractions that can be fed, touched and physically interfered with for tourists' entertainment.
Based on what I personally witnessed today, I strongly recommend against booking a turtle tour with Oska. In my opinion, practices like these should be investigated by the relevant wildlife authorities. This is the opposite of responsible and sustainable wildlife tourism.
