点评:A truly moving experience with so many positive points - small museum crammed with artefacts and stereoscope pictures; being able to walk the trenches that the incredibly brave soldiers sheltered in was humbling; the ground still pock marked with shell craters makes you appreciate what they went through; the shattered trees preserved with shrapnel gouges... 200 metres away is the memorial to the Canadian forces who gave their lives for Hill 62 is stark, simple but moving. The cemetery 100 yards in the other direct is so peaceful and beautifully maintained (with a Luytens designed entrance and shelter) very very humbling and moving. As we were there during storm Ciaran the wind was so strong it brought a tree down across the road but the cafe staff really stepped up serving over 100 visitors (adults and schoolchildren) with coffee and so many hot chocolates - well done them!
