点评:This is without doubt a hidden gem located right in the heart of Ipswich. Anyone interested in modern history and the home front during WW2 will find this museum fascinating. The shelter is packed full of ephemera from the period and is staffed by passionate volunteers who guide you through the story of Ipswich during WW2. There’s a mock up of a London Underground train in the shelter which is a superb feature and takes you back to the Blitz.
Be sure to allow yourself a few hours as there is a lot to look at and to read, as well as great volunteers to chat with.
One downside is parking close to the museum can be tricky as the museum is located in a busy built up area underneath a Victorian era school, so no car park, but don’t let that put you off visiting. Ticket prices are also really low which belies the wealth of interesting things to see inside the tunnels.
Will definitely visit again, especially is they manage to open the other tunnels on the site.
