An experience to be treasured !
Canyon De Chelly Tours, Llc.的点评
点评:My wife and I did a 4-5 hour hiking tour down into and then out of the Canyon del Muerto with our Navajo guide - Richard. In short, it was a tremendous experience and a honor for us to visit this sacred beautiful country. The hike starts with a gradual but steady descent along sandy paths and slickrock. Richard was very careful with and verified our footwear could grip the rock. The canyon walls rise around you in reds and oranges, and as you go lower, the sense of scale becomes striking. Once you reach the bottom, the terrain shifts to sand, cottonwood groves. We saw patches of green—fields still farmed by Navajo families. Richard pointed out wild horses, hawks and ancient dwellings in the cliffs while he shared stories of his ancestors- mothers who climbed the rocks with their baby on their back, legends of where the Navajo came from and the Navajo interactions with the first Anglo settlers. After lunch we found climbing back up was not so bad, we just took it slow and it gave us time to look back and take in the canyon. It’s not just a scenic hike, you move through a cultural place that is very alive.
