点评:Joined friends recently on their bucket list trip to monarto safari park -we stayed at the Lodge in glamping tents (10/10 - magnificent -spoiler NO tv which suited us fine ). This price included all meals/ alcohol / evening safari . I spoke to manager and arranged a single rate for my tent -web pages lists price for couples only .The meals,at the lodge were amazing and highlight of our day .
IF on a budget I’d look at the Resort , not lodge or even stay in Murray bridge nearby and come in daily if need be. YOu need to spend more than one day here in order to check out the hop on, hop off stops ( 9 in all -sometimes there’s keeper talks , sometimes the animals are shy and you may not spot them.-we’d drop in another time ) We managed to see almost all the animals - lemurs were off limits as weather too cold, and aviary temporarily shut down due to,avian flu concerns
On evening safari through lodge we saw the hippos out of water and next to road which is unusual for them (thyre real water soaking animals becuase of sensitive skin).
Found the staff/rangers enthusiastic and helpful. We booked a meerkat experience and 360 lion experience which was great . You could have stopped off at lions area on the hop on hop,off bus and seen them from the viewing platform as well (bus doesn’t drive through that area ).
The elephant clan now numbers 5 -they’re being socialised /introduced to,each other through fencing and at some point hopefully can be released together
If you buy a annual sa zoo pass , you’ll get free access to other zoos as well (Adelaide/ Taronga etc) and save on entry fees to zoo
Make sure at information centre you go upstairs and view the information upstairs regarding history of monarto safari park and all of the conservation work going on
On our last day we did eat at the cafe at information centre - prices ok , food on offer seemed reasonable . One could always pack own picnic lunch if from Adelaide or nearby if price a concern
For anyone travelling you can actually catch a public bus from Adelaide to monarto safari park information centre (arrive about 10am , leaves 4 PM)
Cost reasonable
We used it to travel there on the Tuesday am, returned 4 pm Thursday to,Adelaide .
