A surprisingly fun little family stop

点评：My family randomly came across Northlandz when we were looking for something to do in NJ, and honestly, I had no idea what to expect. Turns out it’s this huge indoor miniature railroad world that one guy started building as a hobby. There are trains running everywhere, with tiny towns, mountains, rivers, mines, roads, buildings and so on. you keep spotting little details you didn’t notice the first time.
The kids were obviously into the trains, but I actually ended up enjoying the little stories hidden in the scenes. We probably spent close to 2 hours walking around.
We also chatted with one of the older guys working there, and he told us he loves the job because it’s still basically his hobby. That honestly stuck with me. You can tell this place is much more of a passion project than a polished tourist attraction.
We went on a Sunday and it wasn’t crowded at all. Tickets were $27 + tax when we went, and they also have an outdoor train ride. Definitely one of those slightly random family stops that ended up being much more fun than expected.
