Kutai and Wehea 6-day trip

点评：We recently returned from a 6-day trip from Balikpapan to Tandjung Redeb organised by Borneo Eco Adventures.
I cannot recommend it enough and will attempt to summarise why below:
We were very lucky with our guide Sys and our driver Addis (not sure how to spell his name, sorry!). Both on a professional and personal level, they were a joy to spend 6 days with.
The trip was extremely well organised. First thing we noticed, for example, how the car was freshly cleaned when we got picked up. Details like this make a difference. Considering how wild and remote east Kalimantan is, everything was impressively efficient.
The places we visited are not to be missed. In Kutai National Park we saw two wild orangutans expertly guided by Harry. He picked up fruits and plants to calculate when they were chewed by monkeys and/or sunbears, tracked and followed footprints, listened to animal sounds, so we can spot something amazing. And so we did!
The food was good and accommodation was clean and inviting (albeit very warm, good thing they had expedition tents for outside sleeping).
Wehea was out of this world. A gruelling trip with 4WD into the heart of the jungle. Our only issue here was that we didn't stay longer, because the jungle was spectacular - monkey and bird sounds all day long next to a lovely river, which can barely be found on Google Maps. Bear in mind, that we did not see any animals here on our hikes due to the density of the forest, but we did not mind. With more time, I'm sure we would have spotted them.
The trip ended in Tandjung Redeb where we enjoyed air-conditioning and hot showers. From here, it's an easy three hour trip to the tropical paradise of Derawan Archipelago.
All in all I cannot recommend this experience enough, especially for everyone wanting to discover the raw and wild side of Borneo.

Wehea 简直是人间天堂。驾驶四驱车深入丛林腹地，一路艰辛。我们唯一的遗憾是没有多待，因为丛林实在太壮观了——猴子和鸟儿的叫声整天萦绕在丛林深处，而这条河流在谷歌地图上几乎找不到。需要注意的是，由于森林茂密，我们徒步时没有看到任何动物，但我们并不介意。如果时间充裕，我相信我们一定能看到它们。
旅程在丹戎雷德布结束，我们在那里享受了空调和热水淋浴。从这里出发，只需三个小时就能轻松抵达热带天堂德拉湾群岛。
总而言之，我强烈推荐这次体验，尤其推荐给所有想要探索婆罗洲原始野性一面的人。
