点评:My husband and I traveled with three other couples on our first trip to Ghana (although we had visited other African countries) with Uprise Travel in July 2026. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend Naa and her team. Our group's guide, King, also took fantastic care of us throughout the entire journey, and became like family. Communication with Uprise before and during the trip was very easy, professional, and responsive.
We did a "North to South" 10-day tour, from Tamale/Mole Nat'l Park, through Kumasi and the Cape Coast UNESCO heritage sites, then back to Accra. The historical/cultural (including an Ashanti naming ceremony) and eco-tourism aspects of the trip were outstanding. Although another member of the group organized the trip, so we weren't aware of the varying price points for different accommodations, I will say that the hotels in Accra (Movenpick), the Zaina Lodge in Mole National Park, and Kumasi (Oak Park Suites) were outstanding. The Lemon Beach Resort in Elmina felt a bit dated; but we learned that the whole Cape Coast region lacks truly premium hotels (which seems like a great opportunity!)
The highlights of the trip were the tour of the Assin Manso River site near Cape Coast, the tour of the Ashanti Royal Palace and Museum, and the experience at the Odomankoma Cultural Village (just outside Kumasi) where we toured the cocoa farm, learned about kinte weaving, and underwent the traditional Ashanti naming ceremony including an audience with the village chief - truly outstanding experiences.
Our tour wrapped back in Accra, where we toured the WEB DuBois Center for PanAfrican Studies and the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial
Park, both of which were extremely educational and inspiring. I would have enjoyed more free time to experience the contemporary art scene in Accra, it just give an excuse for a follow up trip!
Overall, a great experience with Uprise - only one very minor downside was a lot of time spent "road tripping" (some of Ghana's roads are quite rough!), and the van was a bit cramped for a group of eight adults with lots of luggage. But the driver and King were both very professional and helped us make the most of it.
