点评:Canada Place with its iconic white sails is an integral part of Downtown Vancouver skyline, much like the CN Tower in Downtown Toronto. My family and I got to enjoy the sight of this unique building quite a few times while out and about during our visit. First was at Junction Public Market where the east facade of Canada Place serves as stunning backdrop for the pink VANCOUVER sign. Next was at Burrard Dry Dock Pier in North Vancouver where we made use of the complimentary tower viewers (binoculars) for a closer look at this famous landmark. During the SeaBus ferry ride from Lonsdale Quay to Waterfront Station, we sat near the right side and got rewarded with a postcard-perfect view of Canada Place via a ferry window.
Sad to say, we didn't get the chance to admire the west facade of Canada Place. The Koningsdam was docked on the west berth the two Saturdays we happened to be at the waterfront. The cruise ship was so massive that it totally blocked the view.
We did walk along the west promenade and got to see the welcome archway (From the Salish Sea, The Journey Within) and The Canadian Trail which had the names of Canada's 10 provinces, 3 territories and prominent cities on coloured floor tiles. On the east side, we climbed the stairs to the upper promenade — the closest we got to the 5 sails. It was interesting to look at them from this angle. Most visitors probably only admire them from afar.
