A remarkable art museum with an amazing collection and terrific special exhibitions!

点评：The Helen McNicoll exhibition sparked this visit to the National Gallery of Canada! We had read about Helen and her beautiful Impressionist paintings so decided it would be worth the 8-hour drive to see (which we turned into a 4-day roadtrip). This was just our second time at this beautiful art museum. Love Moshe Safdie's design for this building, inside and out! We thoroughly enjoyed our time seeing Helen McNicoll's art and learning about her life. I had to walk through the galleries a second time to make sure I saw it all. We walked through the European and American galleries, enjoying some exceptional works of art and taking in the Diego & Henry exhibit. We saved the Canadian and Indigenous galleries for last...savoring every minute of viewing the Group of Seven works. They never cease to amaze!! And this second visit was just as remarkable as our first visit almost 10 years ago. It certainly ranks high on our list of the best art museums in the world.
The only downside of our visit was the cafe. We didn't want to take a lot of time away from the galleries, so we chose grab & go sandwiches which were dismal...soggy and tasteless.

这次参观唯一的缺憾就是咖啡厅。我们不想把太多时间浪费在咖啡厅里，所以买了些即拿即食的三明治，但质量实在糟糕——又湿又没味道。
