点评:The Scottish Crannog Centre was quite quiet today, but I spent 4 hours there. Obviously eating wonderful homemade soup, millionaire shortcake and cappuccino (authentic food of the iron age) didn't take up all of my time. As it was so quiet I had extremely long chats with 4 wonderful women. I also made a Brigid's cross. I'll re-tie the ends with biodegradable hessian and leave it in a favourite tree when I'm on a woodland walk this week. I also "made" a yummy sourdough bread (well I patted a wee bannock sized pitta type bread and cooked it on a girdle). The Crannog should be finished this summer, but the iron age roundhouse village is so worth the visit. Do it, you know you want to 🫶
This is best described, I feel, as experimental archeology. You're visiting an Iron Age Village, so dress appropriately for the weather. It was cold and damp today going between the huts. Usually the warmest places are the blacksmiths and the cooking areas.
For best value, become a friend. Realistically, two visits and it's paid for itself. If you don't get back you've supported a wonderful educational and welcoming place. We live 2 hours away, but visit regularly.
