点评：Beautiful sea fans and sponges a stones throw from the cruise ship dock. We could have easily swam back to our cruise ship. According to the “authorities” all snorkelers have to “snorkel” while wearing a life jacket. Seeing as how life jackets are designed to keep the head above the water, it was a challenge to tip forward and get your face in the water enough to see something, then you flip back upright. Again. Fight yourself forward, catch a quick glimpse underwater then flip back upright. Over and over and over again. Do NOT pay to go on a snorkel excursion here. This was the main part of a cruise shore excursion and we were so disappointed when we were told that it is mandatory that everyone snorkeling from a tour boat must wear a life jacket. I do not think it was just our tour operator since we saw other snorkelers wearing life jackets too. According to our guide, several snorkelers have been left in the water recently so the authorities are making everyone wear life jackets. So you will not actually be snorkeling, you’ll be floating along with glimpses underwater. A few years ago we went to a place called Sand Dollar and it was fantastic and we really regretted not just going there again. We thought we’d be off on some secluded reef when in actuality we were so close to the cruise ships we thought it was a joke. Sand Dollar is right down the way from the cruise dock (in fact, farther away from the ships than where we floated on the reef)and you can get an excellent snorkel tour and we didn’t see anyone having to wear life jackets there. If we are ever back in Cozumel, we are skipping the snorkel excursions on boats and going back to Sand Dollar.
