点评：My wife and I stayed at a beach front hotel February 22 to March 4, 2026. It was not one of the expensive ones high up on the hill to the east, but central in a lower price place. We did have a terrace with a sea view, with many steps down to the beach. This community is rich with very friendly people, great restaurants, markets, street and beach vendors trying to eke out a living. It is a great place to immerse yourself into the local culture, traditions and foods. Back in the 1970s, this was a haven for counterculture vagabond travelers and hippies. The poorer folks way to get here was by a treacherous bus ride from Acapulco. Those with more money came by sailboat. Those were the best of times for tourists. Now in 2026, there are quite a few more catering to tourist tastes with less than authentic Mexican food and crafts. Still, one can find great authentic food and wares if willing to search for it.
The beach is now less than fun. Yes it is still beautiful for scenic views, but swimming here is less than desirable. The water is polluted, strange things floating in the water, my friend calls it whale spit, but I think it may be dumpings from the shore. The sand is nice, but too hot to sit if you don't have an umbrella for shade. you must have your own chairs. It all costs money to rent, nothing is free. While swimming you are constantly bumped by hungry fish, legs and at your back. It's better to enjoy the beach view from the shade of the beachfront bars/restaurants where you can chill with a beer or drink.
