点评:An impossibly large museum full of amazing ancient artifacts, you could spend nearly an entire day here. If you are at all interested in pre-Columbian Mexican history this is a must visit. The museum houses a massive open courtyard, featuring a huge pillar fountain, with openings to the different exhibits. The exhibits are mostly indoor in dimly lit display rooms, though there is an outdoor section for the Aztecs, and are separated by regions of Mexico.
We were there for over an hour before close and only saw less than half of the exhibits, it’s truly massive. Note that for beginner Spanish speakers, like myself, only the big signs offer an English translation. For example, you can read the overview about what civilization you’re viewing in English, but the small signs next to the actual artifacts that explain them are only in Spanish unfortunately.
We certainly want to return to see everything the museum has to offer, and next time my girlfriend and I agreed that it would be more fruitful to book a tour. It’s a bit overwhelming self-guided. That way we can enjoy a more focused and insightful experience.
