One thing to watch out for when you arrive: parking attendants may try to stop you and direct you into the first parking area, which costs €5. What they don't tell you is that this is actually the farthest parking lot from the beach. As you continue walking towards the beach, you'll notice several other parking areas that are both closer and cheaper, with some costing only €3.
My advice: don't feel pressured to stop at the first parking lot. Simply continue driving and check out the other parking options further ahead.
That said, the drive and the walk are completely worth it. Elafonissi is one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete, with crystal-clear turquoise water, soft sand, and breathtaking scenery. Despite the parking frustration, the beach itself is truly amazing and a must-visit destination.
