点评：Having been lucky enough to witness La Machine's live street performances in other cities, we came to La Halle de la Machine knowing what these creations are capable of. Just standing before the gigantic machines in stillness, it can still be hard to fully grasp the sheer spectacle they deliver in motion - a blend of mechanical art, theatre and incredible music. It would be good if they showed video footage alongside the large pieces so visitors who haven't seen them perform can appreciate the full magic. A big bravo for the Minotaur — a mere 14 meter tall, the beast carried visitors in an open carriage on his back (forgetting that the Minotaur's favourite food was people). Well done to the team at La Machine!
That said, even the smaller exhibits are genuinely extraordinary. There's a wonderful collection of ingeniously MacGyvered contraptions that do completely unexpected things, including playing musical instruments in wonderfully unconventional ways. TIP: The performances start up randomly without any announcement — no fanfare, no warning. If you hear something moving or whirring nearby, walk toward it immediately. You won't want to miss a single one.
