点评:I almost didn't go to Cenote Azul based on some bad reviews but since I was so close, I went anyway.
It was a weekday around 10 a.m. and I parked my rental car right in front in the free parking lot. The parking attendant was very sweet and pleased with a 50 peso tip. The entrance fee was also very reasonable, I can't remember how much it was, around 100 pesos.
Upon walking in, the view of the giant open cenote was deep blue and beautiful.
There were a few local families but all in all I pretty much had the place to myself.
The whole area was clean. There are areas to hang out but the main seating area is at the large open restaurant which offers very good food (meat lovers will love the giant multi level rosticero) and a woman making home made tortillas.
After renting the required life jacket for a small fee, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the water was very warm, probably around 85 degrees. Evidently, since it's always exposed to the sun, it retains a consistent temperature. Floating around, with trees and birds surrounding most of it, was truly special. I loved the feeling of the intimate serenity. It felt more private than the lagoon.
I'm so glad that I experienced this gem and wished that I had time to return.
Don't miss it Cenote Azul!
