Initially, I would have rated this experience extremely highly — the gorilla trekking alone was unforgettable, and parts of the safari were very well executed. However, customer service is a major part of any travel experience, and that is where things fell apart.
After our December trip, Samuel confirmed that a refund would be processed for unused activities. Since then, communication has been inconsistent and unprofessional. Multiple follow-ups via email and WhatsApp went unanswered for extended periods. Promises were made that the refund would be issued “by the end of the week,” but nothing materialized.
It has now been months since the trip, and the matter remains unresolved.
In addition, I believe it’s important to mention that the vehicle we were initially picked up in was not in acceptable condition. It had clearly not been cleaned and contained cockroaches to the point that it was uncomfortable. The guide eventually had the vehicle cleaned during the tour, which I appreciate — but this should never have been necessary.
Because of the post-trip handling and lack of professionalism, I have adjusted my rating to reflect the full experience, not just the highlights.
I share this not out of emotion, but for transparency so future travelers can make informed decisions.
